Healthy Toppers

Customizing my daily smoothies and oatmeal is a fun way to add flavor and nutrients.  A few of my favorite mix-ins include: ground flax seeds, cocoa powder, dried unsweetened coconut, chia seeds, and peanut flour.  

Ground flax seeds are easiest for the body to absorb and are packed with high levels of dietary fiber and an abundance of micro nutrients and omega-3 fatty acids.

Cocoa powder is a low calorie way to get a rich chocolate flavor.

Dried coconut provides a chewy bite and creamy coconut flavor.

Chia seeds add contrasting texture and chia are full of health benefits similar to those of flax.

Peanut flour is a neat product I found at Trader Joes that gives great nutty depth and tons of protein with very little fat.
